NOW Broadband drops activation fees on unlimited broadband deals

Monday, March 5th 2018 by Oprah Flash

The snow has melted and we’ve all had to drag our asses back into work. Hands up if you were hoping for another snow day?

No matter, to lift your spirits we’ve got a deal for you to check out over your lunch break; NOW Broadband has dropped its activation costs for the next few weeks.

NOW TV started as a streaming platform allowing you to pick and choose Sky’s premium TV content without being sucked into a contract. At the start of the year, it announced it would be venturing in supplying broadband to customers without the need to bundle it with a NOW TV pass.

NOW Broadband has dropped the activation fee on its broadband 12-month contracts to zilch. Up until Thursday 22 March, the only extra upfront fee you’ll notice in your first bill is the £9.99 cost to cover postage and packaging.

The broadband connection is unlimited and comes with download speeds up to 17Mbps. The package costs £18 a month over a 12-month contract and with the offer in place you save £15 on the cost of set-up. At the end of your contract the price goes up to £25.99 a month.

Offer ends 22 March

This ADSL package is the internet connection that is supplied via home telephone lines. Most UK broadband providers offer ADSL as their basic broadband package offering speeds up to 17Mbps.

This speed is better suited to smaller households of up to three people who only moderately use the internet for basic tasks like shopping or checking emails. NOW Broadband says you’ll be able to download an album in 24 seconds with up to 17Mbps.

The package we just mentioned locks you into a contract for at least a year. One of the things we like most about NOW Broadband, is that it offers a 30-day rolling contract option. This gives you the flexibility to cancel your package at the end of the month if you decide that it’s not right for you or if you only need a broadband connection for a limited period of time.

The NOW Broadband plam over a one-month contract is the same price (£18 a month) with the only difference being a much larger setup fee of £59.99.

To give you an idea of the average price of basic broadband at the moment, TalkTalk is currently offering a ADSL connection for £17 a month with no set-up fee. This is cheapest deal available right now with NOW broadband coming in second. EE’s unlimited broadband is £19 a month with an exclusive 5GB data boost for mobile customers and Plusnet’s offering is £19.99 a month but the price is offset but the £50 cashback included in the deal.

NOW Broadband fibre packages with faster download speeds up to 38Mbps costs £25 a month and the Super Fibre plan is £35 a month. This gives you speeds up to 76Mbps.

The packages allow you to make calls but you’ll have to pay as you go. To add weekend calls it’s an additional £4 a month or £8 a month for anytime inclusive calls.
