O2 offers roaming in 75 destinations with selected tariffs

Friday, April 6th 2018 by Oprah Flash

“If we took a holiday, took some time to celebrate. Just one day out of life it would be, it would be so nice.”

We’re cool for flashing back to Madonna’s Holiday song right? It is officially Spring but the weather can’t quite make up its mind, so we wouldn’t blame you if you’re already scanning the web for cheap flights.

While you soak up some sun on the other side of the globe, you can use your data, calls and texts stress-free as O2 has extended its roaming to cover 75 destinations.

Thanks to an EU ruling that came into force last year, all mobile providers must allow you to use your tariff abroad without incurring any extra charges when travelling within the Europe Zone.

While Three was the first of the four mobile networks to offer a wider range of roaming destinations (71) free of charge, O2 has pipped them at the post by adding an additional 27 destinations outside the EU.

Free roaming in USA, Mexico and New Zealand

Nina Bibby, chief marketing officer at O2, said: “Not only do we offer customers more flexibility and control, but we are also introducing more places to roam than any other major operator, with 75 destinations at no extra cost.”

The new O2 Travel inclusive Zone lets you top up your tan while uploading pictures of the beach to Instagram in Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Greenland, Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Honduras, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela and Yemen.

Alongside this announcement, O2 revealed plans to introduce flexible Refresh tariffs. This means you can change your data plan to suit your needs each month.

To get free roaming in 75 countries worldwide from O2 you’ll have to sign up to one of its new flexible refresh tariffs that came in to place on 22 March. With this you’ll have a daily allowance of 120 minutes, 120 texts and data from your current tariff while abroad in one of the named countries.

If you were already an O2 pay monthly customer before the flexible Refresh tariff came into place, you’ll have to pay £4.99 for the same allowances. Sadly, if you’re a pay as you go customer, the O2 Travel perks don’t apply and you will pay standard roaming rates.
