O2 offers teachers up to 40% off phone plans with O2 Open

Monday, May 21st 2018 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

O2 is offering teachers up to 40% off selected phone plans after expanding its popular O2 Open service.

The discount scheme, which already offers reduced prices to police, armed forces and NHS employees, now also includes all state-funded teachers in the UK.

Companies such as NatWest, Clintons and Network Rail are also signed up to O2 Open. You can find out if your employer is registered with the service by texting ‘OPEN’ followed by the company name to 61202, by calling O2 customer service on 202 or by visiting your local O2 store.

The 40% discount applies to the airtime part of O2 Refresh plans of 3GB or above and is available until 18 July, after which it’ll be a 25% discount on offer. Customers on plans below 3GB can get a discount of 30%.

If your employer is part of O2 Open, all you need to do is sign up at o2.co.uk/open with 28 of starting a contract to apply the discount. Teachers should use the code ‘TEACH’ and supply a copy of either a payslip or their teacher ID card.

O2 Priority

O2 Open customers can also get a 20% discount on accessories by popping into an O2 store with proof of employment.

As well as offering the employees of certain companies a discount on their bill, O2 gives all of its customers access to exclusive offers and deals through O2 Priority.

Last summer, we reported that O2 customers had saved more than £15m in the first half of 2017 thanks to the discounts and freebies on offer, as well as having the regular chance to snap up concert tickets up to 48 hours before anyone else through Priority Tickets.

Earlier this year, O2 made flexible tariffs available on all of its pay monthly phone and tablet deals, meaning customers can move their tariff up or down each month depending on how much data they think they’re going to use.

Nina Bibby, O2’s chief marketing officer, said the plans helped put customers “back in control of their data”.
