Our pick of the top five box sets to binge on Virgin TV

Wednesday, April 18th 2018 by Emma Woollacott

British weather being what it is, the chances are that you're not going to be spending your evenings sipping wine al fresco any time soon.

So instead, why not curl up with a box set from Virgin TV? There's a huge number to choose from, covering every type of TV programme imaginable; here's our pick of five of the best.

Wolf Creek season 1

With season 2 currently airing on the FOX channel, it's time to get up to date on season 1. Mick Taylor (Django Unchained's John Jarratt) is a creepy serial killer in the Australian outback in this spin-off from the movies Wolf Creek and Wolf Creek 2.

The first season consists of six episodes and was originally released in May 2016. It follows Eve, a 19-year-old American tourist, who is targeted by Taylor, but survives his attack and embarks on a mission of revenge.

Atlanta season 1

This award-winning comedy-drama about a college drop-out who manages his cousin's rap career was written and directed by Donald Glover, who manages to find the time to star in it as well.

With something of an art-house feel, the 10-episode series examines race, relationships, poverty, status and parenthood as the pair work to improve their lives and look after their families.

The River season 1

Action-horror 'found footage' series The River is full of thrills and chills. When high-profile explorer and TV personality Dr Emmet Cole (Star Trek's Bruce Greenwood) vanishes during a trip to the Amazon, he is given up for dead - until his emergency beacon goes off six months later.

A rescue team led by Cole's wife (Leslie Hope, 24) and son (Joe Anderson, The Grey) set off to try to find him - only to encounter ghosts, demons and terrifying creatures.

Robert Redford's The West

One for the history buffs, Robert Redford's The West explores the dramatic history of the American West between post-Civil War America and the closing of the Western Frontier.

The eight-part series reveals the remarkable real-life stories behind many infamous Wild West legends, including Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Wyatt Earp, Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull and George Custer.

It features exclusive interviews from famous film cowboys, including James Caan, Burt Reynolds, Tom Selleck, Kiefer Sutherland, Kris Kristofferson, Mark Harmon and Ed Harris.

Imposters season 1

What if the person you trusted the most in the world wasn't who they said they were? Inbar Levi (Prison Break) is Maddie, a con artist who robs her victims of all their worldly goods while incidentally winning their hearts. However, her three latest marks, Ezra, Richard and Jules, are hot on her tail.

Season 2 is now airing, so make sure you know the story so far before you catch up with Maddie, who in the second season has fallen in love herself.
