Plusnet offers 'pumped up' SIM-only mobile plans from £5 a month
Plusnet has pumped up its SIM-only mobile plans and if you are quick you will be able to grab a 1GB deal for the price of 500MB.
The mobile phone provider is offering a rolling 30-day SIM-only deal for £5 a month, giving you 1GB of data alongside 2,000 minutes and 2,000 texts.
This is double the amount of data you would usually get for a fiver on the network but you need to act fast as the offer expires on 1 February.
SIM-only deals are an attractive option for those happy with their handset and if you don’t have massive data needs then this deal should get you pretty pumped. Plus the 30-day contract gives you more flexibility than a 12-month deal as you aren’t tied in for as long.
It uses the EE network which means you get access to the widest 4G capability, plus you also get a SmartCap service that lets you place a limit on how much you spend above what is included within the plan. This is initially set at £10 but you can opt to decrease it to £2 or boost to a maximum of £30.
The SmartCap service will be particularly helpful on 1GB of data as that will quickly be eaten up by a few music downloads, checking your emails on the commute or watching a couple of Netflix episodes.
A range of 4G SIM deals
More prolific phone users would get through 1GB of data quite quickly. But Plusnet has a range of 4G SIM-only plans on flexible 30-day contracts.
You can double up to 2GB for £10 a month. That will give you 1,500 minutes and unlimited texts. And there is a 4GB alternative with the same number of minutes and texts on Plusnet for £9 a month.
You can also get unlimited calls and minutes with 4GB of data for £15 a month.
The low-data 1GB Plusnet deal is pretty competitive compared with the rest of the market.
There are alternative data offers that take the middle ground. For example, Smarty, which sits on the Three network, offers 2GB of data with unlimited calls and texts for £7.50 per month on a 30-day rolling contract.
As an added extra, Smarty discounts data you don’t use in a month and provides you with credit. If you want more data but calls aren’t so important, you can get 3GB with unlimited texts but just 500 minutes a month with giffgaff.
There is a bit more competition on the 4GB deals. Smarty offers unlimited calls and minutes with 4GB of data for £10 a month, compared with Plusnet’s £15 offer.
For a few more pounds, Three Mobile will give you double the amount of data at 8GB with 600 minutes and unlimited texts for £14 a month or a massive 30GB of data for £20 each month.
