Plusnet offers YouView TV to its fibre broadband customers

Tuesday, May 12th 2015 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Plusnet has launched a YouView service for its existing fibre broadband customers.

The move marks the company’s first venture into ‘triple-play’ – offering customers the chance to have their TV, broadband and phone line come from the same provider.

YouView is available to customers who already have Plusnet Unlimited Fibre broadband and line rental.

Plusnet CEO Andy Baker said: “We are delighted to now be able to bring the Plusnet difference, a great price and award winning customer service, to TV.

“We’re very proud to be offering our existing customers the option to take Youview TV from Plusnet, in a triple-play package alongside their broadband and home phone services.”

YouView offers users access to Freeview TV channels as well as the ability to scroll back to watch programmes from the last seven days, and a programme search feature.

It also includes all the major UK on demand players – BBC iPlayer, All4, ITV Player, Demand 5, Milkshake, UKTV, Quest from Discovery, NOW TV and Sky Store.

In November, YouView started offering Netflix, which features box sets including Breaking Bad and Homeland, and Netflix original series such as Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.

YouView’s head of business development, David Faulkner, said: “We’re delighted to give families the choice and flexibility to enjoy more films and TV box sets than ever before on YouView.

'TV for everyone'

“Recently we’ve added Netflix, Quest OD from Discovery and 30-day catch up via the new BBC iPlayer. YouView just keeps on getting better, ensuring seamless and easy access to great TV for everyone.”

Last month, a survey by cloud-based technology provider Satmetrix found that Plusnet customers were the most likely to recommend the company to a friend, compared to customers of other providers.

The survey focused on levels of customer loyalty in a variety of commercial sectors including broadband.

It found that 51% of Plusnet customers were likely to recommend the provider to others, while only 14% were classed as unlikely to recommend.

Andy Baker told Cable.co.uk: “We are excited to see Plusnet leading the 2015 Satmetrix Internet Service Consumer Benchmark.

“Word of mouth continues to be the strongest recommendation you can get, and the strength of our referrals programme is real testament to this.

“We are very proud of our award-winning customer service and competitive pricing and it is great to see that our customers are pleased enough to recommend this service to others.”
