Plusnet unveils new internet security offering

Friday, October 8th 2010 by Cable.co.uk

Subscribers to Plusnet Extra and Pro will be able to take advantage of the new Plusnet Protect security package for free.

Plusnet has announced the launch of its new internet security package, which has been developed by McAfee.

The Plusnet Protect add-on, which is suitable for use with Windows PCs, is designed to offer the broadband and home phone provider's customers the protection they need to stay safe online.

It will allow users to block viruses and remove any existing hazardous files that are already on the computer, prevent the installation of spyware and stop hackers from gaining unauthorised access to the system.

Anti-phishing software and parental controls are also included.

Plusnet Extra and Pro subscribers will have this service bundled in with their package for free, while people with one of the company's other deals can bolt it on for an additional £2 per month.

The company has also pledged this week to offer the cheapest standalone broadband price in the UK.

"Put simply, if you find a lower price for standalone broadband we'll beat it hands down," remarked Plusnet's Andrew Clayton.
