Post Office offers £19 a month broadband deal with £50 cashback

Thursday, February 1st 2018 by Mike Whitehead

You’ve got to hand it to the Post Office, beloved British institution delivering all our letters since 1660. It had the whole pie to itself for centuries until the pesky e-mail arrived on its patch, and now it has to contend with the latest upstart out of the nursery – the internet. But as other fabled establishments have fallen by the wayside, the Post Office continues to fight fire with fire.

In an ever-evolving world, its great to see the Post Office swing with the times and adapt to our current everyday needs. Alongside its range of banking, savings and currency exchange services, the Post Office has an attractive broadband offering and has just launched a special deal for a limited period.

Starting today – 1 February – you can get unlimited broadband for 18 months, including unlimited downloads at up to 17Mbps speed for just £19 a month, a reduction of £9 from its original £28 monthly fee. There is an additional £7 upfront charge for the router and post & packaging. This offer ends on 20 February so if you’re interested don’t drag your feet.

As an additional incentive, if you sign up for this offer through Cable.co.uk, you will also receive a £50 Amazon gift card. So, that’s your Valentine’s Day present covered too.

If speedy broadband is something that excites you, the Post Office has two other offers, which may better suit your needs.

Fibre deals from £28 a month

The Unlimited Fibre Broadband package is up to three times faster than standard broadband with download speeds up to 38Mbps all for £28 a month on a 24-month contract and the Unlimited Fibre Broadband Plus package offers download speeds up to 76Mb and is seven times faster than standard broadband for £32 a month. Again, this is on a 24-month contract and both these fibre broadband deals come with zero set-up costs.

By comparison, BT is currently offering an unlimited standard broadband package with the same 'up to 17Mbps' download speed and free weekend UK calls on an 18-month contract for £24.99 a month and £9.99 set up fee. Its superfast broadband packages start at £29.99 with speeds starting at 'up to' 52Mbps.

Virgin offers an extensive range of broadband packages all with speed very much to the fore. Its offers range from £33 a month with up to 50Mbps download speed up to £48 a month with a mammoth 300Mbps download speed. All Virgin packages are 12-month contracts usually with £20 set-up costs.

These premium packages from both BT and Virgin all come with a series of add-ons, which are quite attractive and tempting. However, if you’re looking for a reliable broadband provider with budget very much in mind, the Post Office package could be the right deal for you.
