Post Office offers fibre broadband for the first time

Wednesday, August 23rd 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

The Post Office has started offering fibre broadband packages for the first time.

The provider previously only offered a basic service but has now added two faster options to its range.

Until 17 September, unlimited broadband with download speeds up to 17Mbps is £20 a month fixed for 18 months, then £28 a month.

The Post Office’s ‘unlimited fibre broadband’ gives you speeds up to 38Mbps and is £28 a month for 18 months, then £36 a month.

Unlimited Fibre Broadband Plus, which offers speeds up to 76Mbps, is £32 a month for 18 months then £41 a month.

The Post Office’s basic broadband package comes with a £7 upfront fee while both fibre products cost £30 upfront.

Post Office broadband deals come with totally unlimited usage and unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines.

Customers have the choice of adding evening and weekend calls for £3 a month, anytime calls for £8, extra minutes to UK mobiles or international calls.

A landline-only package is £15 a month for 12 months then £16.99 a month if you buy before 17 September.

Post Office is one of the most complained-about landline providers in the UK, according to the latest figures from Ofcom, although a number of providers generated a similar number of complaints.

TalkTalk topped the list with 22 complaints per 100,000 customers. Post Office and Plusnet were just behind on 21 each, followed by BT (20) and EE (19).

Virgin Media (12) and Sky (seven) were the least complained-about landline providers on Ofcom’s list.
