Reality TV streaming service hayu now available on Roku players

Monday, March 19th 2018 by Oprah Flash

Now that Kylie Jenner has come out of her cocoon of a social-media hiatus, we cannot get enough of her pictures of Stormi.

She’s so cute! Kim hasn’t been as forthcoming with baby Chicago so we hope Khloe follows in Kylie’s footsteps, rather than selfie-queen Kim Kardashian, when her baby girl is born.

On this side of the pond we have to wait SO long for the latest updates on scandal erupting from the hit reality shows, so we have to resort to social media. Frustrating right?

Thankfully, Roku has struck a deal with hayu that we can all clink our glasses to. You can now access hayu’s streaming service through your Roku device.

When it comes to streaming and turning a normal TV into a smart connected device, Roku wrote the handbook. It developed the first player to stream Netflix to TV, a decade ago back in 2008.

Watch shows on the same day as US release

Both the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Express allow you to stream content from popular apps such as YouTube, Netflix, NOW TV and Amazon Prime Video. It plugs into your TV’s HD port, connects to your internet, then you’re ready to binge-watch from the comfort of your living-room.

The new partnership is big news for anyone who loves to catch up on reality TV shows. hayu has more than 150 reality shows such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Bad Girls Club and many more - all on the same day as their release in the US.

If watching women eat copious amounts of salad and get into dramatic arguments doesn’t float your boat, there are also competitive cooking shows such as Top Chef to get stuck into.

What have the big bosses at Roku got to say about the deal? Ingo Reese, director of content acquisition at Roku, said: ”Reality TV continues to capture the hearts and attention of British consumers, so we’re thrilled to now offer our users some of the best reality TV through hayu.”

It’s already quite a busy year for Roku. In January, it joined forces with NOW TV to launch the cheapest TV Smart Stick in the UK. A month later, it added UKTV to its line-up.

Let’s talk money

To add hayu to your Roku service you can download the app for free but you’ll need a subscription. This costs £3.99 a month but the first month is free so you can try before you buy.

When it comes to choosing the Roku device to stream the content, there are two options to choose from, the Roku Express for £29.99 or the Roku Streaming Stick Plus for £79.99. You can also download the app onto your phone so you can control the device using your mobile.
