Ricky Gervais: Humanity stand-up comedy comes to Netflix in March
We were trying to come up with a funny intro here but we’ll leave the comedy to the professionals, specifically Ricky Gervais who is coming to Netflix next month.
Bite your lip, bend your knees and get ready to do your best impression of the David Brent dance because, the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner, Ricky Gervais is returning to our screens with his hit stand-up comedy show Ricky Gervais: Humanity.
The comedy special was filmed at the Apollo Hammersmith in London. Gervais is now older but is he wiser? You’ll be able to find out from Tuesday 13 March, when the Netflix Original becomes available to stream. He’ll be discussing how he copes with ageing, becoming spoiled and his unique perspective of having kids.
Netflix is becoming a bit of a hub for stand-up comedy and has quite a wide range to choose from, no matter what tickles your funny bone.
Stand up and be counted
Following a world tour, comedy legend Chris Rock dropped his latest stand-up show on Netflix yesterday (14 February). Chris Rock: Tamborine is his first stand-up special in a decade, and in it he gives you his hilarious take on relationships, race and society. The Emmy and Grammy award winner is the funny man and brains behind Everybody Loves Chris and a number of movies.
We’d be here all day if we went through the whole list of stand-up comedy specials currently available on Netflix, but a couple to look out for are Ansari Aziz Ansari: Live At Madison Square Garden and Amy Schumer: The Leather Special. Fellow Brit Jimmy Carr with his stand-up show, Funny Business is also worth spending your evening watching.
Ricky Gervais: Humanity is exclusive to Netflix so you'll have to get a subcription to watch it. Netflix offers a free 30-day trial then costs £5.99 a month for the basic subscription. For the standard package with HD streaming and the ability to watch it on two screens at a time it’s £7.99 a month.
The premium package is £9.99 a month for Ultra HD and the ability to have four of family or friends stream on a different screen at the same time.
Top titles like Black Mirror, Suits and Stranger Things, are all available to watch on the service with new show releases announced each month.
Get unlimited data to watch Netflix on your phone
You can watch Netflix on a tonne of different devices including laptops, tablets, phones and even on your good old-fashioned TV.
But watching on your phone can be expensive as streaming uses up a lot of data. Thankfully, both Three and Vodafone have features that make it easier to binge-watch shows on Netflix straight from your phone without ever touching your data allowance.
Three has added Go Binge to its pay-monthly Advanced plans which is ideal if you spend a lot of time streaming content. The provider has teamed up with video and music streaming sites including Netflix, TVPlayer, Apple Music, Deezer and SoundCloud.
As long as you haven’t used up all of your monthly data allowance, you can log onto to Netflix and binge-watch your favourite show or stream an album on Deezer without using up any of your tariff.
Towards the end of last year, Vodafone introduced a range of Video, Chat, Social and Music passes that you can add to your pay-monthly plan.
If you want to Ricky Gervais: Humanity from your phone and you’re a Vodafone customer, the Vodafone Video Pass for £7 a month is worth looking into. You’ll be able to watch content on Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Prime Video and DisneyLife without having to worry about any data limits.
