Samsung Galaxy A8 now on sale in the UK - where can you get it?
Samsung has released its latest mid-range handsets, the Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus. They’re now on shelves in the UK and give you some of the sought-after features from Samsung’s flagship phone for half the price.
Hot on the heels of the Samsung Galaxy S9, launched last month (March), the new releases are the latest additions to Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A8(2018) and bigger A8 Plus(2018) both feature a dual 16MP and 8MP front camera, large infinity screen and facial recognition technology.
As well as, some of the enhanced camera technology from the S9, that allows you to take pictures in low-light conditions, has been bundled into this mid-range version.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 has a 5.6-inch FHD Super AMOLED screen while its bigger brother has a 6-inch screen. Internally, you’ve got 32GB of storage but this can be expanded up to a whopping 400GB with the help of a microSD card. It runs on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) which fit for purpose but not as up to date as the latest Android 8.0 (Oreo).
A win for the Android Army
The built-in Samsung Pay app allows you to make contactless payments without ever having to reach for your purse or wallet. It’s water and dust-resistant so you won’t have to dunk it in a bag of rice in a vain attempt to save it from water damage after dropping it in the bath.
With all the hi-tech features for almost half the price of the flagship phone this is definitely a win for the Android Army.
Junho Park, vice president of Global Product Planning, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, said: “With the release of the Galaxy A8(2018) and A8+(2018), we’re bringing our customers’ favorite features from our flagship smartphones, such as the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus, to our Galaxy A series, which is already known for its premium design.”
