Samsung Galaxy Note8 available to pre-order from UK providers

Thursday, August 24th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Samsung has unveiled its most powerful mobile device to date – the Galaxy Note8 – and it’s available to pre-order from a number of UK providers.

The phone features a 6.3-inch ‘infinity’ screen and an enhanced ‘S pen’ that allows you to easily create animated texts and gifs.

It also has two 12 megapixel rear-facing cameras – a wide-angle and a telephoto lens – that allow you to control the depth of field in your pictures.

The phone launches in the UK on 15 September with an RRP of £869 but is available for pre-order now.

It will initially be available in a choice of two colours – midnight black and maple gold – with the potential for two more choices to become available, orchid grey and deepsea blue.

Following the exploding battery fiasco, which saw the Note7 recalled, Samsung has stressed its commitment to battery safety and said the Note8 has undergone a rigorous eight-point check.

Sky Mobile

Sky Mobile is offering what it says is the UK’s lowest monthly price for the Galaxy Note8 with no upfront cost.

The phone is £38 a month with Sky on a 30-month contract, although you’ll be able to swap to a new handset after 24 months.

This deal gives you 500MB of data. If you’re a Sky TV customer you’ll get unlimited calls and texts for free but if you’re not these will cost you an extra £10 a month.

Sky customers who will want to swap to a new phone after 12 months can get the Note8 on an 18-month contract for a £99 upfront fee then £50 a month.

EE

EE’s plans are more expensive but offer a far more generous data allowance.

The Note8 is being offered for an upfront cost of £49.99 then £62.99 a month on a 24-month plan with 15GB of data.

EE customers can also choose to pay £29.99 upfront then £67.99 a month for 25GB of data, or £9.99 upfront then £72.99 a month for 40GB of data and the opportunity to upgrade their handset for free after 12 months.

All 4GEE Max plans come with unlimited texts and minutes as well as a six-month subscription to Apple Music and access to the BT Sport app.

Vodafone

Vodafone’s lowest monthly price for the Note8 is £44 a month on its Essentials tariff, although you will have to pay £300 upfront.

This gives you 500MB of data, 500 minutes and unlimited texts.

The Note8 on Red Entertainment plans starts at £100 upfront then £60 a month for 8GB of data, unlimited texts and calls plus a 24-month subscription to either Spotify, Sky Sports Mobile TV or Now TV.

O2

O2’s plans start at £53 a month – and £189.99 upfront – for 3GB of data with unlimited texts and minutes and a free Samsung DeX docking hub if you pre-order before 14 September.

Its biggest data allowance, 50GB, is available for £49.99 upfront then £96 a month, again with unlimited texts and minutes and the free gift.

A number of O2’s tariffs also allow customers to upgrade 12 months into their 24-month contract.

Three

Three is also offering a free Samsung DeX hub to anyone who pre-orders the Note8.

The provider’s cheapest monthly price is £44 a month for 24 months following a £99 upfront fee and this gets you 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

Three is the only provider offering unlimited data packages – one with a £79 upfront cost then £73 a month and one with no upfront cost for £87 a month.

Virgin Media

Virgin Media isn’t charging its customers an upfront fee for the Note8. Its tariffs start at £43 a month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1.2GB of data.

Its top package is £62 a month for 5,000 minutes, unlimited texts and 20GB of data.
