Samsung launches new Galaxy J6 handset
Just when you thought Samsung was done releasing new phones for the year, the manufacturer reveals information about the latest handset to join the Galaxy range, the Samsung Galaxy J6.
WIth this phone, Samsung says it is giving you a flavour of its flagship quality features for a fraction of the price. That strategy worked well for Huawei with its P Smart handset.
The first thing you may notice is the 5.6-inch Super AMOLED full-front that is also present in the Samsung Galaxy S9.
In 2018, almost all of the newer smartphones at both the budget and the premium end of the scale have some sort of fingerprint scanner. Here, in the Samsung Galaxy J6, the added security feature is positioned on the back of the phone.
Budget phone with flagship features
Samsung’s flagship handset supposedly broke the mould of photo-taking technology. The Samsung Galaxy J6 isn’t quite as hi-tech in the camera department as its bigger stronger brother, but you still get a decent 13MP camera at the back and 8MP on the front.
Paul Scott, head of Samsung’s mobile product management, said: “The Galaxy J6 draws on Samsung’s display heritage, featuring a stunning Super AMOLED full-front Display to provide a truly immersive viewing experience.”
“The Galaxy J6 combines this beautifully elegant design with an incredible camera experience, convenient features such as a rear fingerprint scanner and increased storage to allow you to capture and share to your heart’s content.”
Under the hood the phone runs on Android 8.0 with 32GB of internal storage that can be extended up to 256GB with the help of a microSD card.
It’s not on sale in the UK yet, but is expected to hit the market later this summer. When the Samsung Galaxy J6 is available, there’ll be three colour options, Black, Lavender and Gold.
