Xbox One users to get Sky and Virgin Media EPGs ahead of World Cup

UK Xbox One owners will be able to access Virgin Media and Sky electronic programme guides ahead of the World Cup.

Electronic programme guides (EPG) from Sky and Virgin Media will be available to Xbox One owners in the UK ahead of the World Cup.

The flagship sporting event gets underway in Brazil on 12 June 2014 but it is understood the update will be rolled out ahead of this date.

Users will be able to tailor the service to suit their specific tastes and preferences, with their favourite channels listed on their personal Xbox profile.

In addition, they can set their Xbox to offer HD channels by default, so they can automatically view programmes in the highest possible quality.

Plenty of features will also be made available specifically to football fans to coincide with the World Cup.

For example, an app called Brazil Now will offer regular news updates, the latest scores and statistics on the competition.

Viewers can use the app while watching live matches, so they can browse all sorts of facts and figures on the action as it happens.

Brazil Now also has a social element, so users can keep up to date with what people are saying about games on Twitter, as well as take part in polls on hot topics.
