Sky and Virgin Media 'two top broadband providers for 2010'

Monday, January 4th 2010 by Cable.co.uk

Broadband providers including Sky and Virgin Media have been named by a news website as ones to watch in 2010.

Fibre optic cable broadband provider Virgin Media has been named as one of the top internet companies expected to have a good 2010.

The company has been mentioned by ISPreview.co.uk alongside rivals Sky, Be and O2 as the firms that offer the best balance of price and performance.

According to the website, Virgin Media's cable broadband network has a strong performance history and can offer subscribers speeds of up to 50Mbps depending on their location.

It added that bundled services – which allow broadband to be received alongside digital TV and home phone packages - are the company's "major strength", so those that want to combine deals should consider contacting the firm.

ISPreview.co.uk's praise for Virgin Media has come after the broadband provider was found to offer the fastest connection speeds available in the UK during December.

According to Broadband.co.uk, the company offered an average download speed of 7.426Mbps during the period.
