Sky digital TV subscribers get new HD channel

Tuesday, June 29th 2010 by Cable.co.uk

Subscribers to Sky's digital TV services now have access to a new high definition channel, it has been announced.

A new high definition (HD) version of the Hallmark Channel has been launched on Sky's digital TV service.

Available to subscribers at position 220 on the service, the channel went live for the first time at 19:00 BST last night (June 28th).

Hallmark Channel HD features a range of top US shows including CSI:NY, House and the Mentalist, while its launch takes the number of HD options available to Sky subscribers to 45.

Laurence Dawkin-Jones, managing director of the channel's operator Universal Networks International, said the introduction of the service was a major step in its expansion strategy.

He added: "Hallmark Channel has a huge number of loyal viewers and I'm delighted that we can now deliver their favourite US shows like the Law & Order titles, CSI and Without a Trace in HD to really maximise their enjoyment."

It was recently confirmed that a HD version of Sky Sports News will be launched later this year.
