Sky gives away free tablet with Family Bundle upgrades

Friday, March 18th 2016 by Cable.co.uk

Existing Sky customers can get a free Samsung Galaxy Tab E (RRP £159) when they upgrade to the Family Bundle online.

This offer is available now until midnight on Wednesday 23 March.

Launched last summer, the Tab E is a wi-fi only ‘family-friendly’ tablet with a 9.6-inch LCD display and 8GB of storage.

Key features of the £159 device include Multi Window, which allows you to open two supported apps side by side, a 'kids mode' to manage access and privacy of files, and dual cameras – a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

The Family Bundle costs £6 extra per month for existing TV subscribers. It offers more than 65 entertainment channels including documentaries and kids' shows, access to the Sky Atlantic channel and more than 300 TV box sets.

Half price Sky Sports

Existing customers can also get six months half price on Sky Sports upgrades until midnight on Wednesday 23 March. This means the bundle will be available for £10 per month, instead of £25.50.

Sky Sports offers seven dedicated channels and includes coverage of live Barclays Premier League games, live cricket and Formula 1 racing, among other sports programming.

Subscribers also get access to on-demand service Sky Go, where they can watch live matches and highlights.

Sky continues to give new customers 33% off selected TV bundles. This takes the cost of Sky TV down to £13.40 per month. Subscribers will also receive a £25 choice of reward (either a Tesco or M&S gift card or prepaid Mastercard). This offer is available until midnight on Thursday 31 March.

Sky offers six bundles: The Original, The Variety, The Family, The Movies, The Sports and The Complete. Sky Movies and Sky Sports are available as add-ons, as well as kids shows, box sets and HD channels.

Each one includes a Sky+HD box and access to the Sky Go app, which allows you to view up to 70 channels live and on demand.

Earlier this week Sky announced it is opening up its next generation TV service, Sky Q, to non-Sky broadband customers.

The service, which allows you to watch different programmes on up to five screens simultaneously, was previously only available to existing Sky broadband customers or new customers signing up to a Sky Q bundle that included Sky broadband.
