Sky Mobile offers its best ever price on Samsung Galaxy S8 – £27 a month
Sky says it's offering its best-ever price on the Samsung Galaxy S8 – but you'll have to move fast, as the offer is only available until Thursday 1 February.
The deal, which is priced at just £27 a month with no up-front cost, has a minimum 12-month term, and normally includes a rather measly 500MB of data. But if you get your skates on over the next few days and sign up by the end of the month, you'll get that allowance doubled free to 1GB.
The package also includes free unlimited calls and texts for Sky TV customers - signing up for that costs from £20 per month with a £20 one-off set-up cost. Otherwise, calls and texts are charged on a pay as you use basis at standard rates.
Also included in the deal is the ability to roll over all your unused data for up to three years, or share it with up to four other SIMs.
The Galaxy S8, launched last spring, still has the ability to turn heads and remains one of the most desirable handsets around - at least, that is, until the S9 launches at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
It's stylishly designed, boasting rounded corners and an extra-thin bezel, with a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display.
Get 2GB of data for an extra £5 a month
There's a Dual Pixel 12MP camera with F1.7 lens and enhanced image processing for sharper photos, even in low-light environments - giving it very respectable photographic credentials, even compared with an iPhone. There's also an 8MP front camera with facial recognition for smart autofocus.
Of course, if you're going for a phone this high-end, the chances are that you'll be using it a fair bit, and having a data allowance of only 1MB may cramp your style. So what if you want to increase it?
Sky's £27 a month deal includes £5 that covers the 'double data' allowance of 1GB. Upping that allowance to 2GB will add an extra fiver a month, with 5GB bringing the total price up to £37. For those with a bit more of a streaming or gaming habit, 10GB will set you back by a total of £42 per month.
The deal compares favourably to those currently being offered by the other major providers. Vodafone, for example, is charging £40 a month with £199 up-front for a similar 1GB package, with 8GB costing £79 upfront and £52 a month.
Sign up for the same phone from EE, meanwhile, and you'll be paying £9.99 for the phone and £37.99 a month for a 1GB data allowance. Similarly, Three Mobile charges £35 a month for the same amount of data, with an upfront cost of £99. For low data users, then, the Sky package clearly comes out ahead.
Sky's double data deal is also currently available on three iPhone handsets: the iPhone7, iPhone SE and iPhone X. Prices start at £25, £13 and £42 per month respectively - but, again, you'll need to move pretty fast and sign up by 1 February.
