Sky Mobile offers new iPhone 8 for £32 a month

Thursday, September 14th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Sky Mobile says its customers will be able to get hold of the new iPhone 8 for as little as £32 a month with no upfront cost.

The handset was launched by Apple earlier this week alongside the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will begin tomorrow (15 September) and shipping will start on 22 September.

If you have your eyes on the iPhone X, which will retail at £999 for the standard 64GB model, you’ll have to wait until 27 October to place your order.

The majority of UK network operators have confirmed they will stock all three phones but most are yet to offer pricing details.

Sky Mobile has announced prices for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and says it will share details on the cost of the iPhone X soon.

It is offering the iPhone 8 on a two-and-a-half year ‘Swap 24’ contract for £32 a month and no upfront cost.

For that, you get 500MB of data and unlimited texts and calls if you’re a Sky TV customer. Non-Sky TV customers can add unlimited texts and calls for an extra £10 a month.

With Swap 24, you also get to upgrade your phone after two years – although this will lock you into a new 36-month contract.

To get the iPhone 8 on a two-year contract with the ability to upgrade after a year (a Swap 12 deal), you’ll have to pay £99 upfront and then £37 a month for 500MB.

The iPhone 8 Plus starts at £37 a month on a Swap 24 deal, again with 500MB of data, or £44 a month and £99 upfront on Swap 12.

'More freedom'

EE said that as well as stocking the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, it will also be the only UK provider offering the new Apple Watch 3 with cellular connectivity.

The device is the first Apple watch with a built-in eSIM and it will only work in the UK if you have an iPhone 6 or above and are on an EE pay monthly or SIM-only plan.

Marc Allera, EE’s chief executive, said: “Whether it’s training in the gym or running a marathon, only on EE will Apple Series 3 Cellular give customers more freedom to remain connected so they can make calls, respond to messages and listen to their music while leaving their phone at home.”
