Sky reveals EPG shuffle boosts MTV and Sky Living ratings
Sky Living has seen its monthly audience figures swell by more than 100,000 over the last year.
Sky has revealed the changes it made to its electronic programme guide (EPG) in February 2011 have made a significant difference to the viewing figures for some channels.
On February 1st last year, the satellite broadcaster shuffled its EPG to make room for the newly-launched Sky Atlantic, resulting in channel partners such as Comedy Central, MTV and Syfy moving much higher up the listings.
Following the move, MTV and Sky Living saw their share of viewing increase by 95 per cent and 36 per cent respectively, while both channels enjoyed a 24 per cent rise in reach.
Acquired by Sky as part of its purchase of the Living Group in 2010, Sky Living moved from position 112 to 107 on the EPG in the shuffle and can now be found between Sky1 and Sky Atlantic.
The audience has swelled in the wake of this switch, from an average of 355,000 viewers per month in February 2011 to more than 479,000 now.
Announcing the shuffle, Sky's commercial director Rob Webster said: "We've worked with a range of partner channels to ensure that customers can find their favourite pay TV channels and programming as easily as possible."
