SSE offers three-year fixed broadband price to its energy customers
SSE has announced a new broadband deal exclusive to existing energy customers, promising a fixed price without the need to sign a contract.
The new deal ensures SSE energy customers won’t have to worry about a broadband price hike for at least three years.
With no contract needed to sign up consumers will not be penalised for cancelling their package and switching to another provider.
The offer also includes a free router and unlimited downloads without any connection fees.
The energy provider’s packages start at £21 per month for speeds up to 17Mbps. At the top end customers will pay £35 per month for Unlimited Fibre Plus with speeds up to 76Mbps.
Non-SSE customers will have to pay an additional £5 per month and a £50 connection fee.
Alex Hollingdale, director of retail telecoms at SSE, said the new package offers customers the opportunity to trial the broadband services with no obligation and the chance to switch at any time.
Mr Hollingdale said: “We know that without our customers there would be no SSE, which is why we want to say thank you by giving them fixed prices for three years and exclusive deals when they also sign up for both broadband and energy from SSE.
'Putting their faith in us'
“We want to give these customers the flexibility, which is why SSE customers can take advantage of this deal without having to sign up to a contract.”
He added: “We always work hard to give customers value for money. Rewarding customers for putting their faith in us is just one way of doing it.”
SSE is not the first provider to entice its energy customers to sign up for broadband services by offering new deals. First Utility recently offered customers a £25 Amazon voucher for signing up to its 17Mbps package for £18.99 per month over 18 months.
For the higher speeds of 38Mbps or 76Mbps, First Utility is offering a free smart home camera, worth £123. Plusnet is also offering £50 cashback on its basic broadband package at £19.99 per month when you sign up online.
SSE has been providing broadband services since 2014. Last year a poll conducted by Cable.co.uk saw SSE come out on top for customer satisfaction with a rating of 7.94 out of 10.
Established names such as BT and TalkTalk came out much lower on the scoreboard with respective ratings of 6.9 and 6.66.
