TalkTalk offers one of the cheapest broadband deals on the market at £18.95 a month
TalkTalk has dropped the cost of its broadband packages to now offer one of the cheapest deals on the market.
To get a standard internet connection from TalkTalk, it’s £18.95 a month over a 12-month contract. This gives you unlimited broadband with download speeds up to 17Mbps. To keep your wallet from feeling too light each month, TalkTalk has waived the set-up fees.
Anyone living in a relatively small household using just a few devices to get online will benefit from these speeds. In comparison to other standard broadband packages on the market, you’re getting a very good-value deal with TalkTalk.
TalkTalk’s main selling point at the moment is a guarantee to fix your monthly cost throughout the length of your contract. While this may give you some peace of mind, it’s worth noting that you have the right to leave your contract with any provider if they raise their prices mid-way through your agreement.
If you're looking for the cheapest deal, £18.95 a month is definitely near the top of the rankings. Here’s the tricky bit, on the face of it NOW TV seems to have a cheaper deal but if you break it down, TalkTalk still comes out on top.
Cheap broadband deals
With NOW TV you get an unlimited broadband connection with download speeds up to 17Mbps for £18 a month. Just like TalkTalk’s offering, the contract spans a minimum term of 12 months. This is where the similarities end, as you have to pay a £24.99 set-up cost to activate your service which means your first bill will be £42.99.
It’s the set-up fee that knocks NOW TV below TalkTalk for cheapest deal as you'll be paying £240.99 over 12 months with NOW TV compared to £227.40 with TalkTalk.
First Utility is just behind TalkTalk’s offering with a deal that costs just 4p a month more. Unlimited downloads with speeds up to 17Mbps will cost you £18.99 a month over an 18-month contract. Though it may be 99p more expensive than NOW TV’s deal, over the course of the first year you’ll spend less with First Utility as there is no pricey set-up fee. Further discounts are available if you already use First Utility for your gas and electricity.
So we’ve told you who is nearly the cheapest, but who actually claims the top spot? The answer is Plusnet – the provider is now supplying the cheapest broadband deal by means of a technicality.
The monthly cost is slightly higher than the other deals we’ve mentioned at £19.99 but there’s no set-up fee and it comes with £50 cashback. This significantly brings down the amount of money you’ll spend throughout the first year.
Then again just 1p more each month will get you fibre broadband from Vodafone. For £20 a month you get download speeds up to 38Mbps with unlimited usage throughout a 18-month contract.
