TalkTalk customers set for a 'faster, more intuitive' mobile TV experience

Thursday, March 2nd 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

TalkTalk is planning to ‘streamline’ its mobile TV experience this summer and roll out a number of new features.

An update due in a few months’ time will enable customers to watch more TV content on the go.

Users will be able to pre-order films and take advantage of the new ‘season pass’ feature, which will provide access to multiple box sets in a single purchase.

TalkTalk said it will provide more details on the new features in the coming months.

The update will be powered by a new digital platform from CSG International, which has recently extended its partnership with TalkTalk.

Announcing the deal with CSG at Mobile World Congress, TalkTalk TV’s managing director Aleks Habdank said: ““This is an exciting new partnership for TalkTalk TV and one that will enable us to accelerate our mobile viewing offering.

“The integration of the Ascendon platform complements a number of recent innovations aimed at delivering a faster, more intuitive and seamless TV experience.

“We led the market by being the first provider to roll out the Next Generation YouView upgrade, which the majority of our customers are already enjoying, and earlier this month, TalkTalk was named TV Provider of the Year in a public vote.

“We’re looking forward to customers being able to enjoy even more of the entertainment they love, whenever and wherever they want, both in and out of the home.”

Last year, TalkTalk launched its own subscription-free film and TV streaming service.

The TalkTalk TV Store lets customers stream, download, rent and buy movies and programmes on a pay as you go basis.

TalkTalk customers are able to buy or rent a show on their TV then switch to a mobile device to watch it.

They can register up to five devices to their account and watch one film or TV show on their TV while downloading another on their mobile, laptop or tablet.
