TalkTalk customers to get Premier League football for £11 a month
TalkTalk has announced that its customers will be able to watch Premier League football this season for the equivalent of 92p a game.
With the football season about to kick off, TalkTalk is to launch its Sky Sports Season Ticket, which will show all the Premier League games available on Sky Sports for an extra £11 a month on top of their TalkTalk TV package.
The nine-month package will give TalkTalk customers access to 108 Premier League games as well as Championship, League 1 and League 2 matches.
The season ticket includes access to Sky Sports 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and F1 so fans can also enjoy coverage of every Formula 1 race, the final two Ashes test matches, international Rugby Union, US Open golf and more.
The Sky Sports Season Ticket is available to TalkTalk customers from 23 August.
In February, Sky won the rights to broadcast 126 live Premier League games per season between 2016-17 and 2018-19.
The £5.13bn deal also saw BT secure the rights to 42 games a season.
This coming season, which kicks off on 8 August, Sky Sports will show 116 Premier League games as well as 127 matches from the Sky Bet Football League, action from the Capital One Cup and over 30 games from the Scottish Professional Football League.
But Sky no longer has the rights to show Champions League and Europa League matches – they are now owned by BT, which has announced that the games are free to watch for BT TV customers.
BT announced in June that its TV customers would get all four BT Sport channels for free – BT Sport 1 and 2, ESPN on BT Sport and the new BT Sport Europe.
Some matches will be made available for everyone to watch, whether a subscriber or not, via a new, free-to-air channel on digital TV.
The new channel, BT Sport Showcase, will show a minimum of 12 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 UEFA Europa League matches. Each participating British team will be shown at least once.
Cable.co.uk reported earlier this year that TalkTalk had gained more than a million broadband, TV and mobile customers in 12 months, making it the UK’s third largest TV provider with 1.4m customers, behind Sky and Virgin Media.
