TalkTalk forced to block Newzbin2
A court order has been sent to TalkTalk forcing it to block filesharing website Newzbin2.
TalkTalk is set to become the latest UK internet service provider (ISP) to prevent its broadband customers from accessing the Usenet indexing website Newzbin2.
According to Slightly Right of Centre (SRoC), Justice Arnold issued a court order to TalkTalk forcing it to block the filesharing site, which allows members to illegally download copyrighted material such as music, films, software and videogames.
The block must be adhered to within 14 days and is believed to have been issued last Thursday (February 9th 2012).
It appears the ISP made little attempt to fight the blocking order. Commenting on the hearing, a senior TalkTalk source told SRoC: "We are not appearing [or] submitting.
"Our primary interest is the order in the case that there is an infringement finding."
BT and Sky have already been forced to block Newzbin2 as a result of a court case won by the Motion Picture Association of America last year.
Sky was told to prevent subscribers from accessing the site on December 13th 2011, but just a few days later both TalkTalk and Virgin Media revealed they were yet to be instructed to follow suit.
