TalkTalk offers free broadband for 18 months plus free anti-virus software

Friday, May 27th 2016 by Cable.co.uk

New TalkTalk customers can enjoy unlimited broadband plus F-Secure anti-virus protection for free for 18 months.

From now until Thursday 30 June, TalkTalk’s Simply Broadband package, which includes unlimited 17Mbps broadband, will be free with subscribers only needing to pay for line rental (£17.70 per month).

After the 18-month contract has expired the monthly cost will be £9.50 plus line rental. There is also a £25 connection fee for new lines.

TalkTalk has cut the price of its unlimited fibre broadband to £5 per month for 18 months. Customers can also get free F-Secure security protection with this package.

Fibre broadband from TalkTalk provides speeds of up to 38Mbps and comes with a ‘super router’ that TalkTalk claims offers faster wireless speeds than BT, Virgin, Sky and EE routers.

The monthly cost of Unlimited Fibre rises to £17.50 once the contract has expired. Subscribers will need to pay a line rental fee and a £12.50 connection fee for fibre broadband.

Essentials TV for £5 per month

TalkTalk is also running a deal on its Essential TV, broadband and calls bundle from now until Thursday 30 June.

Essentials TV, which includes up to 80 Freeview channels, totally unlimited broadband and unlimited evening & weekend calls, is now £5 per month for 12 months and £10 per month thereafter.

Essentials TV comes with a YouView set-top box worth £149 so you can pause and rewind TV shows, access 30-day catch-up and watch online movies from £3.45.

You can also get anti-virus protection with this deal for £5 per month for 12 months. Again, there is a £25 connection fee with this package.

Earlier this month, TalkTalk revealed its pre-tax profits had more than halved in the past 12 months – falling to £14m from £32m a year ago.

The cyber attack that saw the personal details of thousands of TalkTalk customers stolen by hackers last year is said to be behind the fall in profits.

The provider has since launched a range of new services and offers for customers, including TalkTalk TV Store – a subscription-free film and TV service that lets users stream, rent, buy and download shows and movies on a pay as you go basis.

TalkTalk has also announced that its customers will be able to access BT Sport from next month on a rolling monthly contract direct from BT.
