TalkTalk offers six free UKTV channels over Christmas

Thursday, December 10th 2015 by Cable.co.uk

TalkTalk is giving its TV customers six extra UKTV channels to watch for free over Christmas.

The free channels include GOLD, Watch, Alibi, Eden, Good Food, and Home.

This collection is usually only available to customers who pay to subscribe to the Entertainment Extra Boost.

The channels will be added to customers' TV guides at no extra cost from Monday 7 December and will be available to watch until Tuesday 5 January 2016.

UKTV is set to broadcast a variety of content over the Christmas period, including festive food shows from the likes of Jamie, Nigella and Heston, as well as family favourites such as Gavin and Stacey and Only Fools and Horses.

Normally, TalkTalk customers with the Essentials TV package have to pay an extra £10 per month to get the Entertainment Extra Boost while those with Plus TV can get it for £5 per month.

Keeping customers sweet

The move is a bid to appease customers who have not jumped ship following the hacking scandal in October that saw several thousand customers’ details put at risk.

TalkTalk customers still within their initial contract term have not been allowed to leave the provider without facing early cancellation fees.

Despite early investigations suggesting that the information accessed is not enough on its own to take money from customers’ bank accounts, a legal expert told Cable.co.uk that customers may still be able to terminate their contracts without penalty.

Other offers to keep customers sweet include free one-month trials to Sky Sports and Sky Movies, then half-price subscriptions thereafter.

Plus TV customers can also add a free TalkTalk mobile SIM deal to their package, saving £90. The SIM includes 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB data per month, plus free calls to other TalkTalk numbers linked to your account.

TalkTalk TV customers should find the free channels already added to their TV guide. GOLD is on channel 310, Watch is on 311, Alibi is on 312, Good Food is on 313, Home is on 314, and Eden is on 315.

TalkTalk’s TV packages include a YouView box (worth £149), seven day catch-up TV and the ability to pause and rewind live TV.
