Tesco Mobile launches new flexible contract

Tesco Mobile has launched a new contract offering more flexibility to its customers.

The new Anytime Upgrade Flex plan allows customers to reduce their monthly payments by spreading the cost of a phone over 30 months rather than the usual 24.

Tesco Mobile says its aim is give those who sign up to the contract more “flexibility and control” – but obviously you will be locked into a contract for longer.

Anytime Upgrade Flex lets users change the amount they pay each month depending on their usage requirements.

Customers who choose the Anytime Upgrade Flex over the standard 24 month contract will pay £6.25 less each month says Tesco.

For example the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S8 spread across two and a half years is £35.75 a month compared to £42 on the standard contract.

When customers reach 24 months into their contract they will be able to upgrade to a new phone in exchange for their old handset.

Simon Groves, chief marketing officer at Tesco Mobile, said:“We’ve launched Anytime Upgrade Flex to give customers the opportunity to make their smartphone and mobile contract work around their lifestyle.

'Lowest ever monthly payments'

“We know many customers want the latest phones but don’t always find accessible deals which is why we’ve launched our lowest ever monthly payments.

“We know customers may want to change their usage, so we’ve also brought in Flex so they can move their tariff up and down.”

Sky Mobile offers a similar deal that allows customers to pay over 30 months and upgrade after two years.

Sky’s offering is called Swap 24.

Earlier this month Tesco mobile launched its “best value” SIM-only mobile deal. Until the end of September it is offering a range of packages starting at £6 a month. Tesco’s biggest deal costs £18 a month.

Tesco Mobile customers with more than one account on the same bill also benefit from Family Perks, which gives you money off bills, extra data and Clubcard points.
