Smart watches are designed to help you keep control of your life, making it easy to view and respond to emails, texts, calls, appointments and social media notifications.

Smart watches are designed to help you keep control of your life, making it easy to view and respond to emails, texts, calls, appointments and social media notifications.

Some have voice recognition to allow you to dictate emails or make voice queries, and some work as full-blown phones. There's also a big overlap with fitness trackers, with many smart watches including heart rate monitoring, calories burned and the like.

One thing that they do all have in common, though, is that they don't come cheap. We look at some of the best deals for March 2018.

Apple Watch Series 3: Around £269

Step up to the Apple Watch Series 3, and you'll be getting a whole lot more for your money. It has its own 4G and mobile signal, meaning you don't need to cart your iPhone around with you wherever you go.

It can take emails and text messages, and has plenty of fitness apps, but the battery life's not so hot at less than a day.

It's available from Apple itself for £329, but you can knock sixty quid of that price at eGlobal Central.

Sony SmartWatch 3: Around £109

It's not the newest smartwatch on the market, but the Sony SmartWatch 3 has all the basics, with a decent screen, built-in GPS and a two-day battery life. Running Android Wear, it includes wifi and NFC, but its design is a little dull.

It is, though, one of the cheaper smartwatches on the market, and there's a good deal over at Amazon, where you can pick it up for just £109.12.

Garmin Vivoactive 3 GPS: Around £239

As you'd expect from Garmin, the Vivoactive 3 has built-in GPS, and a very impressive battery life of up to a week. It includes Garmin Pay, the companyís contactless payment system - although this isn't very widely accepted.

There's an optional heart rate monitor, and plenty of other fitness features, including a stress monitor.

It comes in at a range of prices, but we reckon Curry's has got one of the best deals, at £239.99.

Samsung Gear S3: Around £215

Working with IoS and Android, the Samsung Gear S3 disappoints some with its relative lack of apps but comes with a Super AMOLED screen and GPS. It has a good range of activity tracking features - though its size and weight might slow you down - and a three-day battery life.

Most deals come in at around the three hundred quid mark, but GadgetGadgetGadget has it for just £215.99.

Huawei Watch 2: Around £239

The Huawei Watch 2 has all the bells and whistles you could want, from GPS to NFC for the ability to make contactless payments. It has a heart rate monitor and plenty of training plans.

There's a 4G version for internet on the move and the ability to make and receive calls - and you can pick this up for just £239.00 over at Amazon.

Tag Heuer Connected: Around £895

This is a top-end smartwatch in every sense, with a stylish design and a titanium body. While the screen isn't the highest resolution out there, it's a powerful little gadget, based on Intel's Atom processor, and has a two-day battery life.

Running Android Wear, it includes voice control, wifi, watch-to-watch communication, gesture support and is iPhone-compatible. There's 4GB of storage for music and apps. There's no NFC, though, and no heart rate sensor, which some will find disappointing.

It comes in several different versions costing a grand and up, but the best value we've found is at Watchfinder & Co, where you can get your hands on one for just £895.
