The Crossing and Marvel's Cloak & Dagger to get UK premieres on Amazon Prime

Tuesday, April 3rd 2018 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Amazon has struck a deal with Disney that will see not one but two new US shows make their UK television debuts on its Prime Video service.

Sci-fi mystery The Crossing is available to watch on Amazon Prime as of today and Marvel’s highly-anticipated Cloak & Dagger will premiere in the summer just a day after it first airs in the States.

The Crossing tells the story of refugees from a war-torn America of the future who arrive in the present-day US seeking asylum. With that as the premise, you probably won’t be surprised to hear that the show comes from ABC, the network that gave us Lost.

Steve Zahn stars as the sheriff of a small fishing town, who alongside Homeland Security agents needs to figure out how exactly this mysterious migration happened.

Cloak & Dagger signals a foray into teen drama by Marvel and despite being co-produced by ABC and showing on Amazon in the UK, will apparently form part of the same Marvel universe as Netflix shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and The Punisher.

It follows teenagers Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) as they discover newly acquired superpowers – Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness.

The two, already connected through a shared childhood tragedy, soon discover that their powers are stronger together.

“This marks another step forward in bringing best-in-class TV shows to Prime Video customers in Europe,” said Jay Marine, VP Prime Video EU.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Marvel’s next hugely anticipated TV series exclusively to Prime Video and we look forward to hearing the reaction from Marvel fans and newcomers to the iconic entertainment series alike as they discover the universe of Cloak & Dagger.

“The Crossing is a timely addition to Prime Video and we’re expecting customers to find much to love about this enigmatic show.”
