The ZTE Blade V8 is just £11 a month on Three
Looking for a new phone? Don’t quite have a spare £999 for the iPhone X? Relax, Three has your back with the ZTE Blade V8.
Before you scoff at the unfamiliar name take a look at what it’s packing under its hood. ZTE is a Chinese brand and while it hasn’t really taken off in the UK, it is known for creating high quality phones for budget prices.
Beneath its diamond-cut metallic design it’s running on an Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 processor with 2GB RAM. With this you’ll be able to run and open apps relatively quickly. There’s 16GB of internal storage with 11GB that you can use for storing pictures and apps, but you’re probably going to need to expand this via the Micro SD port which supports additional memory up to 256GB.
The Android phone has a 5.2-inch Full HD 1080p screen so you can comfortably use it for streaming video content.
You won’t need a Snapchat filter when taking selfies with the 13MP front camera that also has a Screen Flash for taking clear pictures at night. The dual 13MP and 2MP rear camera isn’t the highest quality camera you can get in a budget phone but it's still not bad.
You can feel more secure knowing you can use the front-mounted fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone which, once set-up, can only be used by you.
All in all, you’re getting a decent smartphone for a good price.
ZTE Blade V8 on Three from £11 a month
If you were smart with your money over Christmas and you can afford to buy the phone outright, Three is selling the ZTE Blade V8 for £134.99 on pay as you go, plus the £10 top-up that you have to buy to get the phone.
With your £10 credit each Megabyte of data you use will cost 1p and each text you send costs 2p with a 3p a minute charge for your calls.
If you’d prefer to spread the cost across a 24-month contract the cheapest deal you can get from Three is £11 a month. It’s an Essential Plan and you’ll have to pay £19 upfront to get your hands on the phone. Each month you’ll be able to use 500MB of data, 300 minutes and send as many texts as you like.
Yes this deal is cheap but no it’s not huge amount of data. And as it's an Essential Plan you won’t get any of the perks exclusive to Three either, like Go Binge and Feel at Home Around the World.
Three’s 12GB Advanced Plan is £25 a month with the same £19 charge to pay upfront. It comes with 12GB of data to use each month as well as a Personal Hotspot so you can use your data allowance to connect your laptop or tablet to the internet when you’re out and about. If you’re feeling generous you can even use it to let your friends piggyback onto your data.
All of Three’s plans above 500MB come with all-you-can-eat minutes and texts.
These days it’s all about the heavy data plans. If you’re eager for loads or unlimited data, Three has a package that can scratch that itch. Its top Advanced plan offers all-you-can-eat data for £38 a month with £19 to pay upfront. This means you can play games, shoot infinite Instagram stories and download as many albums as you like without incurring over-usage charges.
Go Binge is a feature exclusive to Three and comes as a bonus with all the Advanced plans. It gives you unlimited data allowances specifically for streaming Netflix, TV Player, Apple Music, Deezer and Soundcloud.
Three’s Feel at Home Around the World feature let you use your data, minutes and texts on holiday without facing any hidden charges. You can roam in up to 71 countries across the globe.
Three is the only provider in the UK selling the ZTE Blade V8 directly, but it's worth bearing in mind that phones not being offered directly by the likes of EE and Vodafone often are available on those networks through resellers such as BuyMobiles.net.
That's exactly the case here as BuyMobiles.net is offering the ZTE Blade V8 from £17.99 a month on EE or from £23 a month on Vodafone, both with 1GB of data and no upfront fee.
