Tyson Fury's comeback fight will be live on BT Sport
Controversial heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury will make his eagerly-anticipated return to the ring in June – and unless you’re lucky enough to get tickets to see it live, the only way to watch it will be on BT Sport.
As part of an extended partnership with promoter Frank Warren and Queensbury Promotions, former world champion Fury’s comeback fight at the Manchester Arena is one of a number of big fights BT Sport subscribers can look forward to.
We don’t yet know who Fury will be fighting on Saturday 9 June but it’s sure to be an event that boxing fans won’t want to miss.
Before then, BT Sport will show the IBF featherweight world title showdown between bitter rivals Lee Selby and Josh Warrington at Elland Road, the home of Leeds United.
Billy Joe Saunders will defend his WBO middleweight title against Martin Murray at the O2 on Saturday 23 June and Irish amateur hero Michael Conlan returns to Belfast for a homecoming fight a week later.
Other boxers in Frank Warren’s stable include former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton, former WBO super-welterweight world champion Liam Smith and former WBO lightweight world champion Terry Flanagan. BT Sport viewers will see all of their upcoming fights, as well as those of up-and-coming stars including heavyweight Daniel Dubois and light-heavyweight Anthony Yarde.
Andy Haworth, managing director of strategy and content, BT Consumer, said: “It is a golden era for British Boxing and never has the Warren stable of fighters looked more exciting, with a great line up of established names and up-and-coming young fighters. BT Sport subscribers can look forward to a fantastic summer of boxing.”
Frank Warren said: “I’m delighted that BT Sport has extended its partnership with myself and Queensberry Promotions. The first year of our partnership has seen us deliver some outstanding fights and we look forward to some even bigger nights in 2018 and beyond, whilst continuing to do what we do best: developing the next crop of star boxers.”
BT Sport has also confirmed that it will be launching its own pay-per-view events on BT Sport Box Office later this year. The service will be available on the BT TV, Sky and Virgin Media platforms.
