Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season four comes to Netflix in May

Monday, February 19th 2018 by Marc Shoffman

“Unbreakable! She’s alive dammit!” Kimmy Schmidt is coming back to Netflix!

Season four of multiple Emmy-award nominee Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt will go live on the streaming service in May.

The Netflix Original comedy follows Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper, the wacky receptionist from the US version of The Office) as she adjusts to life in the 21st century following 15 years of being locked up in an underground dungeon as part of a doomsday cult.

Hailing from the fictional town of Durnsville, Indiana, she moves to New York City to restart her life and attempts to fit back into society.

Joining Kimmy on her journey are her best friend and roommate Titus Andromedon, played by Tituss Burgess, her former-employer-turned-friend Jacqueline White, portrayed by Jane Krakowski and landlord Lillian Kaushtupper, played by Carol Kane.

There are plenty of other star names who have made appearances in previous seasons such as Kimmy’s evil captor Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne, played by John Hamm, Lisa Kudrow as Kimmy’s mum and Jeff Goldblum as doctor Dave.

The creators, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, have brought their experience as executive producers on 30 Rock to create a similarly funny show. Fey has also appeared in the show as Kimmy’s lawyer and therapist.

She helped write this season and is an executive producer alongside Robert Carlock, Sam Means, Jeff Richmond and David Miner.

As well as great actors and some interesting fashion choices, the show also regularly comes up with some of the best one-liners, such as Kimmy stating “I’m not a stranger! I'm a stranger-danger-ranger,” or struggling performer Titus proclaiming “Kimmy - I've sung for alcohol and for pizza, and more than once to get my shoes back, but, I've never sung for money before.”

The first six episodes of season four will launch on 30 May, but you will unfortunately need to wait until later in 2018 for the second half.

But for those who need a fix of Kimmy, you can already watch the previous three seasons of the show on Netflix and enjoy the catchy theme tune.
