Unlimited calls and texts for EE customers travelling in Europe

Monday, August 3rd 2015 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

EE customers can now get unlimited calls and texts, plus a data allowance, for £4 a day when travelling abroad in Europe.

The Euro Pass, available to EE pay monthly, SIM-only and small business customers, means there is no need to get separate talk, text and data add-ons when heading to the continent.

The unlimited calls and texts included in the offer are to standard UK and Europe Zone numbers, so customers can call friends and family at home and make local calls for things like booking local restaurants or taxis.

Customers on 4GEE Extra plans, who already benefit from unlimited calls and texts in 39 European countries, can add the Euro Data Pass to get 100MB of data for £3 a day.

With both Euro Pass and Euro Data Pass, if a customer needs more than their 100MB full-speed allowance, they will receive 400MB at no extra charge for browsing, messaging and using social media at a slower speed.

Customers can also choose to buy an EE roaming data add-on.

EE’s new passes are all on top of customers’ home allowances, meaning the minutes, texts and data used abroad don’t come out of their UK monthly plan allowance or incur out-of-bundle charges.

Customers can opt-in at any time – in the UK before they travel or when they’re abroad – by texting EUROPASS or EURODATA to 150.

Once it’s added to their account, customers only pay on days they use their phone in EE’s Europe Zone, so there’s no need to take it off when they come home.

The destinations included in EE’s Europe Zone are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.

EE also offers data add-ons for customers travelling outside of Europe starting at £5 and 4G roaming in more than 45 destinations worldwide.

Cable.co.uk reported last week that Vodafone had added Albania, Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Jordan to the list of countries in which its customers can use 4G, taking the total number to 63.

Vodafone EuroTraveller means a customer can take their UK minutes, texts and data with them from £3 extra a day and the operator’s WorldTraveller plan allows the use of UK minutes, texts and data worldwide for £5 a day.
