Up to £125 cashback and free BT Sport with BT broadband and TV January sale deals

Monday, January 8th 2018 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Not only can you get up to £125 cashback with BT’s broadband and TV deals, if you sign up right now you’ll also get BT Sport free for at least six months.

Now the reason we use phrases like ‘up to’ and ‘at least’ when describing these deals is because the amount of cashback varies depending on the broadband package you choose and the BT Sport offer varies depending on the TV package.

If you team any TV package up with BT’s top level of fibre broadband – Unlimited Infinity 2, which gives you speeds up to 76Mbps – you’ll be eligible for £125 cashback. Going for Unlimited Infinity, which gives you speeds up to 52Mbps, will give you £100 cashback and BT Unlimited Broadband – standard ADSL with speeds up to 17Mbps – gets you £60.

As always, BT cashback comes in the form of a pre-paid Mastercard that you can spend wherever you can use a Mastercard. It won’t arrive automatically though, you’ll have to make a claim once your broadband’s up and running.

Free BT Sport for six months

With both the Starter and Entertainment TV packages, you’ll also be able to get BT Sport free for six months, then £3.50 a month for the rest of the 18-month contract. With the Max TV package, a BT Sport subscription is included anyway so you won’t have to worry about it.

With us so far? Well, there is one more added complication that affects how much you’ll have to pay before we even get into individual package prices or add-ons. The Starter TV package currently comes with a £50 connection fee, whereas with the other two all you’ll have to pay is a £9.99 router delivery charge.

To make things clearer, let’s go through how much each TV package costs when bundled in with Unlimited Infinity and look at exactly what you get for your money. As we’re using Unlimited Infinity for our examples, you will get broadband speeds up to 52Mbps and £100 cashback with all of the following deals.

For the Starter package with Unlimited Infinity, you’ll pay £29.99 a month for the first six months, then £33.49 a month for the remaining year of the contract because you’ll be paying for BT Sport. The price for the first six months is the same as for Unlimited Infinity on its own, but don’t forget you will be paying a total of £59.99 upfront compared to just £9.99 for broadband on its own.

You’ll get a YouView+ box that does not have a recording function but does give you access to catch up TV services, lets you pause and rewind live TV, and gives you 79 Freeview channels including 10 in HD.

BT Sport in UHD on TV Max

To get TV Entertainment with Unlimited Infinity, it’ll cost you £39.99 a month. If you choose to add BT Sport to this package it will be free for six months, after which you’ll be paying a total of £43.49 a month.

The Entertainment package comes with a better YouView box that will let you record up to 300 hours of TV as well as pause and rewind live telly. The extra channels you get compared to the Starter package include Gold, National Geographic and Animal Planet.

BT’s top telly package – TV Max – is £44.99 a month with Unlimited Infinity. The BT Sport offer doesn’t apply here as the BT Sport channels are included in the channel line-up anyway.
