Virgin CEO: More people than ever are switching to us

Virgin Media has reported yet another record quarter for customer growth, taking its total number of new customers to 99,000 in 2015.

The company’s latest financial results show that it added 55,000 customers in the last three months of 2015.

It added 158,000 broadband connections in the UK in 2015 including 69,000 in the fourth quarter – the highest number since the start of 2010.

The results follow record customer growth in the previous quarter, which Virgin said was driven partly by demand for its broadband bundles.

The company's results for the three months ending 30 September showed that 42,000 customers signed up – the highest gain recorded in those three months since Virgin Media was created in 2007.

As it revealed its latest results for the final quarter of 2015, and the full year, Virgin said its strong performance was helped by its investment in Project Lightning – a £3m programme to connect 4m UK premises to ultrafast broadband.

More than 40% of the new premises reached by the rollout in 2015 happened in the last quarter of the year, it said, and the company is set to expand its UK footprint by more than 500,000 premises in 2016.

Virgin, which delivers ultrafast broadband, video and fixed-line telephony services to 5.6m cable customers and mobile services to 3m subscribers, said it is offering consumers broadband speeds three times faster than its competitors.

The company said its average customer connects five devices and downloads more than 110 GB of data per month.

Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media CEO, said: “These results demonstrate a strong financial performance from Virgin Media.

“We’ve grown revenue and operating cash flow and improved cost control, since becoming part of Liberty Global.

“More people than ever are choosing to switch to the UK’s fastest broadband speeds from Virgin Media, whether they are at home, at work or on the go.”

Virgin has previously announced that it is increasing its top speed to 200Mbps, with its speeds going from 50Mbps, 100Mbps and 152Mbps to 70Mbps, 150Mbps and 200Mbps.

The company has also announced a 300Mbps service for business customers and a scheme to offer free broadband installation to small businesses following the closure of the government’s voucher scheme.

if any people in virgins Accounts/ Sales Dept. see this then please let me help you by suggesting a new Apartment complex with +100 potential customers just waiting at the very far end of BT's Comically Inept rollout plan that may never be upgraded to fibre.

i believe i may have also used the phrase "Please take my money, i will pay for Big Kahuna Bundle though i don't own a television or landline handset please." Let me help you Virgin.
