Cartoon Network and TCM HD channels launch on Virgin Media

High-definition services from TCM and Cartoon Network have launched on Virgin Media.

Virgin Media has boosted the number of high-definition (HD) channels it offers to 39 with the launch of Cartoon Network HD and TCM HD.

Available at channel 416 on the Virgin Media electronic programme guide (EPG), TCM HD will showcase several series in native HD for the first time, including Band of Brothers, Deadwood, Hell on Wheels and Wild Boys.

Cartoon Network can be found at EPG number 732 and is airing daily high-definition marathons of shows such as Ben 10 and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

As part of the move, the cable company has also added TCM 2 to its TV line-up at no extra cost to customers, with the standard-definition service appearing at channel 417.

Content from Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito will launch for a range of devices on Virgin TV Anywhere and will also be available in 3D later this year.

Richard Wheeler, head of content acquisition at Virgin Media, said: "With half-term and major movie events like the Oscars just around the corner, there's plenty of action and entertainment for all the family on Virgin Media TV in HD."
