Virgin Media adds to international channel line-up with Brit Asia TV

Thursday, June 29th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Virgin Media is increasing its Asian channel line-up with the addition of Brit Asia TV.

The channel, which celebrates the achievements of the British Asian community in music, politics, art and fashion, is available on channel 840 from today.

Brit Asia TV also broadcasts documentaries, entertainment shows and live music sessions.

It becomes one of 11 Asian channels Virgin customers on the ‘Mix’ package can watch following the launch of Islam Channel UK and Islam Channel Urdu earlier this month.

David Bouchier, Virgin TV’s chief digital entertainment officer, said: “With Brit Asia TV joining our growing Asian channel line-up, Virgin TV customers have got the pick of the best Asian programming.

“This forms part of our plans to offer greater choice and variety for our Asian customers, and we are always looking at ways to extend this programming offer even further in the future.”

Tony Shergill, CEO of Brit Asia TV, added: “We are proud to announce that Brit Asia TV will be launching on Virgin TV.

“As we have a lot of exciting projects planned for the channel, we thought it was right to progress and launch our channel on Virgin TV.”

Virgin has recently added HUM Europe, which features Pakistani dramas, soaps and entertainment to its TV listings on channel 833.

Customers can also add Nollywood Movies to their package for £6.99 a month. The channel shows more than 30 new Nigerian movies each month and is home to popular African soap opera Tinsel.

In April, Virgin made a number of channels from Poland, France and Russia available through its Worldbox app for the first time.

It has since added the Ukrainian entertainment channel 1+1 International, the Portugeuse channel Sic International, Tunisian entertainment network Nessma and Spanish news channel Canal 24 Horas.
