Virgin Media launches Big Fun bundle

Tuesday, November 24th 2015 by Cable.co.uk

Virgin Media has launched a new triple bundle of fibre broadband, digital TV and home phone.

Big Fun is a mid-range package in Virgin Media’s Big Bundle line-up with an introductory price of £49 per month for the first nine months then £40 per month thereafter.

The bundle runs on an 18-month contract and installation is free if you buy online. Line rental is charged on top of the monthly cost at £19 per month.

Big Fun sits between Big Bang and Big Kahuna in the provider’s range of triple bundles. Each features a fibre broadband service, digital TV package and home phone plan with varying internet speeds and channel choice.

The launch of Big Fun sees the discontinuation of one of Virgin’s other bundles, the Big Daddy. The most comprehensive and highest priced bundle was removed from sale on 24 November 2015.

Big Fun includes the middle sibling of Virgin Media’s fibre broadband services – Vivid 100. It comes with a download speed of 100Mbps and unlimited usage. Free online security is included for the first 12 months.

The wireless Super Hub router is delivered free of charge, which will connect all wi-fi enabled devices to the internet. It comes with two years’ warranty, after which free servicing and repairs are still available as long as you remain a Virgin Media customer.

TiVo box with over 170 channels

The Big Fun bundle features over 170 channels, including 11 in HD, 10 Sky channels, 75 channels and eight kids’ channels. All can be viewed on your home TV, and 70 can be watched on mobile devices via the Virgin TV Anywhere app, which is free to use for all Virgin customers.

The package features a 500MB TiVo box to pause, rewind and record multiple channels at once. It also gives access to on demand streaming and catch-up TV, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Sky On Demand.

Like all Virgin’s big bundles, Big Fun includes the basic Talk Weekends call plan. Calls are free to UK landlines, 0870 numbers and Virgin Mobile numbers from midnight on Friday to midnight on Sunday for the first hour of each call: you’ll need to redial before 60 minutes to avoid call charges.

Calls at other times start from 10.6p per minute, or customers can upgrade to a more comprehensive call plan. Line rental is charged at £19 per month or you can pay for a year upfront (£164), which saves £39.88.
