Virgin Media offers £100 retail voucher or free speaker with broadband, TV and phone deals
Virgin Media has condensed its Christmas and January sales into a New Year’s flash sale, which in short will land you a £100 retail voucher or a free Jongo speaker if you buy a broadband, TV and phone package.
The sale kicked off on 29 December and ends tomorrow (3 January), so if you want to take advantage you’d best shake yourself awake from that turkey and mince pie stupor and look lively.
When it comes to the voucher, there’s a choice to be had. It’s up to you whether you want £100 to spend at Amazon, John Lewis or M&S. Or of course you may want to just avoid the hassle of ‘going shopping’ and just get the speaker. It’s up to you.
This offer is available on what Virgin calls ‘triple play’ deals that comprise broadband, TV and a phone line. The cheapest of these that it currently offers is £33 a month with a £20 set up cost and is called the Player TV bundle.
With the Player TV bundle you get broadband speeds up to 50Mbps, Virgin’s latest TV V6 set top box with more than 70 channels including nine in HD and the ability to record shows, which you don’t always get with the most basic offerings from some other providers.
You also get unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines and Virgin says it will “normally” let you keep your existing phone number if you switch, which is nice of them.
Right at the other end of the Virgin TV, broadband and phone offering is the VIP TV bundle, which is a bit of a beast. It’s £88 a month plus £20 upfront but to be fair you get loads for that.
There’s more than 300 channels and a whopping 70 in HD including all of the Sky Sports channels, the BT Sport channels and the Sky Cinema channels. You get unlimited calls to UK landlines, 0845 and 0870 numbers and, oh yes we almost forgot, broadband speeds of up to 300Mbps, the fastest widely available in the UK by quite some distance.
Virgin obviously has a number of bundles that sit somewhere in the middle but don’t spend too long deciding because this is a flash sale after all, so you’ll miss out.
