Virgin Media offers TV and broadband bundles from £29 a month

Tuesday, February 13th 2018 by Steve McCaskill

Virgin Media is offering discounts for several of its broadband and triple-play packages for customers who take out a 12-month contract.

It’s ‘VIVID’ 50Mbps bundle has been reduced to £29 a month for the first year of the contract, after which the price rises to £40, while the VIVID 100 deal offers 100Mbps for £34 a month before increasing to £45.

For those who need even faster speeds the VIVID 200 delivers 200Mbps for £39 a month for 12 months and £50 thereafter and the VIVID 300 promises 300Mbps for £44 a month before an increase to £55 after the contract has expired.

Indeed, the VIVID 300 is the UK’s fastest widely available broadband package and is underpinned by Virgin Media’s ultrafast upgrades to its cable network.

All three bundles come with a £20 activation charge and a Virgin Phone line, which offers inclusive calls to Virgin Mobile numbers and weekend calls to UK landlines thanks to the ‘Talk Weekend’ perk.

Virgin Media will supply you with its latest router, the Hub 3.0, which promises faster speeds, stronger signal and enhanced security. This means your wi-fi network can make the most of the high bandwidth connection coming into your home.

Record and store 500 hours of TV on the V6 box

There’s good news for those who want television services, too.

The ‘Player’ bundle is an upgrade on Freeview, delivering all the main free-to-air channels and catch-up TV services over the new Virgin V6 box. It costs £33 a month for 12 months, before rising to £34 in 12 months' time.

The V6 box allows you to record six live TV shows at the same time – you can watch a recording while this is happening – and has a unified search tool that can find programmes across the TV guide, On Demand and even on Netflix if you are a subscriber.

The 1TB worth of storage can record 500 hours of standard definition (SD) video and 100 hours of HD, so there’s always something to watch. And if that’s not enough, you can watch live TV, box sets and some recordings on compatible mobile devices over your home wi-fi network.

Some are even available outside the house through the Virgin Go application.

The Player bundle also includes 50Mbps broadband and a Virgin phone line with Talk Weekend.

Finally, the ‘Mix’ bundle offers everything included with ‘Player’ as well as 100Mbps broadband and more channels, such as Sky 1, MTV and Sky Sports News. It will set you back £45 a month before rising to £55 in a year.

To sweeten the deal, if you order the Player or Mix bundles before the end of 14 February, Virgin Media will give you a free Amazon Echo.

The Amazon Echo is a smart speaker with the Alexa voice-activated personal assistant built in. Alexa can play music and radio, answer your search queries and control connected devices dotted around the home.

Given the Echo usually costs as much as £89.99, it’s a pretty decent incentive.
