Digital TV provider Virgin Media is set to add TiVo to its digital TV platform in autumn, it has been revealed.

Broadband bundle provider Virgin Media will add TiVo to its digital TV set-top boxes in autumn, it has emerged.

Speaking at the Cable Congress conference, the company's chief executive officer Neil Berkett revealed that the software will be included on systems used by all customers by the end of the year.

According to Broadband TV News, Mr Berkett told the audience at the event that the use of the technology was driven by a desire to offer an improved service to subscribers.

"We believe TiVo will supply the best user experience, Flash-based, and creating a new gateway to the digital world," he explained.

He added that it is hoped consumers will not be confused by any changes to their service.

Virgin Media's digital TV service is set to exclusively broadcast the Film4 HD channel from this summer, it was recently announced.

E4 HD is also being added to the platform in April.
