Virgin Media to give free wireless speaker to new broadband customers
Virgin Media has announced it will be giving away a free Pure wireless speaker with selected broadband packages.
From Friday 22 January until Tuesday 26 January, customers signing up to Virgin Media’s Big Bundle, VIVID Broadband or VIVID Broadband & Calls or packages will receive a free Pure Jongo T2 wireless speaker.
Retailing at £99, the Pure Jongo T2 is at the lowest-end of the Jongo speakers. The wi-fi feature lets you control the music output from your smartphone using the Pure Connect app. You can also use Bluetooth to connect other devices.
This free gift is available with Virgin’s fastest broadband. Launched last year, Virgin VIVID broadband provides households with speeds up to 200Mbps and unlimited downloads.
It’s also available with Virgin’s four TV, broadband and phone bundles: the Big Easy, Big Bang, Big Fun and the Big Kahuna. Broadband speeds range from 50Mbps with the Big Easy package to 200Mbps with the Big Kahuna.
The Big Easy includes the standard 60 Freeview channels whereas the Big Bang boosts that to over 130 channels, the Big Fun includes 170+ channels and the Big Kahuna offers the most at over 230.
Superhub wireless router
All four packages offer unlimited weekend calls and are available on a 12 month contract. Virgin charges an installation fee starting from £40 for standard install and an activation fee of £9.99.
New broadband customers get a SuperHub wireless router and access to Virgin’s wi-fi hotspots, plus parental controls and security software, email and 5GB of online cloud storage.
Virgin is the only widely available internet provider in the UK to offer a broadband-only package. Customers who choose to take out a calls package with their broadband will have to pay £17.99 per month for line rental.
The company seldom discounts it superfast fibre broadband-only services but did run a range of reductions on them for a limited time last December.
Virgin has recently announced the arrival of two new channels on its TiVo service. Last week, it revealed music streaming platform Vevo had been added and this week saw the arrival of the UK's first dedicated cycling channel, Bike, on Virgin TiVo.
