Virgin Media to launch new HD digital TV set-top box

Tuesday, March 16th 2010 by Cable.co.uk

Digital TV provider Virgin Media is set to launch a new high definition version of its set-top box for new and existing customers.

Bundle provider Virgin Media is to launch a new high definition (HD) set-top box for its digital TV services.

The company, which also offers home phone and fibre optic broadband services, has revealed that the new V HD box will be available to both new and existing customers from March 22nd for a one-off fee of £49.

At present, Virgin Media offers its subscribers either the basic V or V+HD systems, so it is hoped the new box will expand on the firm's offerings in an affordable way.

Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: "Our new V HD Box is ideal for anyone who wants to experience the power of HD without the extra monthly fee."

She added that the company was hoping to make its services "the best value TV offering available".

Virgin Media recently confirmed it is adding Sci Fi HD and ITV1 HD to its digital TV platform over the coming weeks.
