Vodafone broadband now available to new as well as existing customers
Vodafone broadband is now available to anyone in nearly 22m premises across the UK.
Before today, the fibre service was only available to existing Vodafone mobile customers.
As well as a choice of 17Mbps, 38Mbps or 76Mbps broadband, Vodafone is also offering a year’s free subscription to Netflix to anyone who signs up from today.
The service allows customers to stream movies and TV programmes such as House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black instantly.
Vodafone said that existing customers signing up for one of its broadband packages will be given £5 off the standard monthly broadband price for the duration of their contract.
Vodafone Red (pay monthly mobile) customers will also get inclusive calls anytime to UK landlines, plus 300 free minutes to UK mobile numbers.
And every customer gets inclusive evening and weekend calls to UK landline numbers, plus discounted Sure Signal units to boost mobile coverage indoors if necessary.
Vodafone’s consumer director, Cindy Rose, said: “We are delighted that we are now able to bring our innovative new home broadband service to people across the UK, allowing them to share in the great experience many of our existing customers are already enjoying.
“Our customers are loving the fact that they can control their home broadband from their smartphones and tablets.
“With the introduction of Vodafone home broadband combined with our ultrafast 4G, Vodafone is now well positioned to satisfy all of our customers’ connectivity needs, both at home and on the go.”
Vodafone’s network currently reaches telephone exchanges that connect around 22m homes and businesses.
The company said this – combined with its new ‘plug-and-play’ router – delivers speed, reliability, unlimited data and features such as ‘Boost’, which supercharges one device by giving it priority on a customer’s home network.
Other features include ‘Beam’, which uses Beamforming technology to focus wi-fi signals to compatible devices wherever they are in the home, and ‘Family Time’, which allows customers to easily manage and set time limits, giving them control over when wi-fi is available and when it’s not.
Vodafone initially launched its broadband service to existing customers in Manchester, Berkshire and parts of Hampshire and Surrey, before rolling it out to the whole of the UK. It also has plans to launch a TV service later this year.
Jeroen Hoencamp, CEO of Vodafone UK, said: “We have had great feedback on our broadband service from the customers involved in our regional launch.
“We are really pleased that they are finding the speeds as fast as they hoped for, while the Vodafone Connect companion app gives them an unprecedented level of control over their devices.”
