Vodafone extends free Netflix deal for mobile customers

Vodafone has agreed a new partnership with Netflix that will see the streaming service offered to customers signing up to selected bundles.

Customers taking the Vodafone Red Value, SIM Only or Red+ Sharer bundles will get up to 12 months of Netflix’s two-screen plan worth £7.49 a month.

The plan allows viewers to instantly stream TV shows including Marvel’s Daredevil, House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.

Viewing isn’t limited to Vodafone mobile devices – customers who sign up to Netflix can watch on their smart TV, computer, tablet or any other connected device.

Cindy Rose, Vodafone UK’s consumer director, said: “We are delighted to once again offer Netflix to our Red Value Bundle customers, as we had brilliant customer feedback from those who took Netflix as part of our previous partnership.

“Thanks to our partnership with Netflix and our strong and ever-expanding 4G network, our customers can be out and about and still catch up with their favourite films or TV shows.

“Our 4G customers are using four times more data than those on 3G, which shows how popular services such as Netflix are with our 4G customers.”

Vodafone yesterday announced the launch of wi-fi calling, a service that allows customers to make and receive calls over a wi-fi connection when they do not have a mobile signal.

'Strong signal'

Wi-fi calling is being made available to pay monthly customers on a Vodafone Red bundle with a compatible handset.

Ms Rose said: “Our wi-fi calling service allows customers to talk to loved ones, friends and colleagues for longer and in many more places. It is easy to use and doesn’t cost a penny more.

“It works wherever a customer is connected to wi-fi – in a café, at home or the office – and automatically connects just like a normal call when a mobile signal is weak or non-existent.

“Vodafone wi-fi calling is a great match for Vodafone Broadband, our new superfast home broadband offering.

“Its special beam-forming technology ensures that a strong signal follows your phone wherever you take it around your home.

“Vodafone wi-fi calling is one of a series of future voice services we are launching for our customers over the next few months.”
