Vodafone now offering the UK’s cheapest fibre broadband

Wednesday, September 13th 2017 by Oprah Flash

Vodafone has reduced its Unlimited Fibre 38 broadband package by 20%, making it the cheapest fibre deal in the UK.

For £20 a month the provider is offering superfast speeds of up to 38Mbps to anyone who signs up before Monday 9 October.

Vodafone's 76Mbps package has also been reduced to £24 a month – making both fibre offers cheaper than Vodafone's basic standard 17Mbps package, which currently costs a pound more.

Vodafone has scrapped router fees for both the Unlimited Fibre 38 and Unlimited Fibre 76 packages.

Plusnet is currently offering 38Mbps fibre broadband for £24.99 a month and Sky customers can get 38Mbps for £25 a month over 18 months and an additional £19.95 set up fee.

For the average household, 38Mbps will allow you to do all the usual activities such as streaming, shopping and keeping up to date with social media platforms.

Larger households who use multiple devices at the same times or for those who want a faster download speed can choose the Unlimited Fibre 76 plan.

A spokesperson for Vodafone said existing fibre customers will not see a reduction on their bill. They would have to cancel their current contract and take out a new contract to benefit from the discount.

If customers already have a phone line there are no upfront costs otherwise there is a £60 installation fee. Over the course of the first year customers will pay a total of £240.

Last month Vodafone used another ploy to draw in customers. Along with fast speeds at a low cost the provider also gave away free gifts such as a Sonos speaker worth £199, Fitbit Charge 2, Sennheiser headphones, Tom Tom camera or £75 prepaid card.

Earlier this summer, Vodafone launched a new 'skill' for Amazon Alexa allowing customers to receive updates about their account using voice recognition technology.

Users can ask Alexa for billing data, account details and information about extras.
