Vodafone offers inclusive roaming for pay as you go customers

Wednesday, March 1st 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Vodafone has launched two new offers to help its customers keep in touch with friends and family anywhere in the world.

From today, pay as you go customers will be able to enjoy free roaming included in Big Value Bundles.

Until 14 June, customers buying a Big Value Bundle will get an additional 100 minutes, 100 texts and 500MB of data to use in 40 destinations.

Vodafone has also introduced International Savers, which gives pay monthly customers 100 minutes to call mobile or landline numbers in 100 destinations for £3 a month on top of their normal bill.

Those wanting even more call time can get 500 minutes for £7.50.

Glafkos Persianis, Vodafone UK’s consumer director, said: “We continue to focus on removing the barriers which might stop our customers from calling loved ones, wherever in the world they may be.

“We are delighted to be giving them simpler options that make their lives easier and give great value for money – no other UK company offers as many minutes for such a low price to so many global destinations as we do with our International Savers.”

Earlier this week, a report by research firm Ovum – commissioned by Vodafone – found that Vodafone offered more 4G roaming destinations to its customers than any other operator.

Vodafone led in all 18 markets of the markets analysed, including the UK, Germany, South Africa and New Zealand.

'Not a simple task'

In many of the countries in which Vodafone operates, it offers more than double the number of 4G roaming destinations of its rivals.

Serpil Timuray, chief commercial operations and strategy officer at Vodafone, said: “In today’s connected world, mobile consumers have an increasing need to ‘roam like at home’.

“With Vodafone, our consumers can make the most of their time abroad because they can enjoy the 4G experience in substantially more destinations and with worry-free roaming pricing.”

Ian Watt, principal consultant at Ovum said: “4G technology has the potential to provide customers on the move with a broadband experience closer to what they can get at home in terms of speed.

“Making 4G roaming work across the globe is not a simple task and can take mobile operators years to establish.

“From the outset, Vodafone has been at the forefront of the 4G roaming rollout and has established a significant lead within its footprint.”
