How to compare and buy BT Superfast Fibre (previously BT Infinity)

We’ve listed all the best BT fibre broadband deals

If you’re interested in BT fibre then you’ve come to the right place. Our comparison page lists all the best BT Superfast Fibre broadband deals available, and they are yours for the taking just by clicking the button. We’ve listed all the best deals that include a BT fibre package, so make sure you check all the details before clicking through to buy.

Availability

Check that BT Superfast Fibre is available in your area

As it uses fibre optic cables, BT Superfast Fibre (previously BT Infinity) is not available everywhere, so before you start to compare broadband deals, you should put your postcode into the broadband checker at the top – this will limit the results to only those that are available in your area.

Check the detail

Make sure you know what you’re looking for

Before you make the leap to one of these BT Superfast Fibre deals, it’s best to make sure that it’s the right thing for you. BT fibre provides fast fibre optic to your property, but it does not necessarily present the best broadband deal for everyone. Make sure you check out the details and terms and conditions on the packages you’re looking at to make sure you’ll get the best value from it.

Why choose BT Superfast Fibre?

BT Superfast Fibre is faster than standard broadband

The major selling point for fibre optic broadband is the speed it provides. BT offers three speeds with its fibre packages with average speeds of 35Mbps, 50Mbps and 67Mbps so you should be able to find one that’s perfect for you. This is markedly faster than BT Broadband, which is advertised as averaging 11Mbps.

Access to BT Sport is available to BT fibre customers

If you’re mad into sports, then you’ll be delighted to hear that access to BT Sports is granted to everyone who signs up to BT Superfast Fibre and can be viewed on its online player and app. The BT Sports channel hosts 38 exclusive live Premier League matches, including 18 top pick games, as well as action from Aviva Premiership Rugby and exclusive live matches from the FA Cup.

BT Superfast Fibre can be bundled with a TV and phone bundle

BT fibre can be bundled up with a phone and TV package, which means you can get all your communication and entertainment from one place – great for those that like to keep things simple. TV Entertainment (the TV package that comes with BT Infinity) has 70 Freeview TV channels and an additional 20 channels including the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and MTV.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Faster than standard broadband
  • Access to the BT Sport online player and app
  • Bundle fibre with TV and phone bundles

Cons

  • BT fibre is not available everywhere
  • All deals require a 12-month contract
  • Line rental inclusive in all pricing

Which package is right for me?

BT Superfast Fibre Essential is unlimited

BT Superfast Fibre 1 is the entry-level fibre package. It comes with a download speed averaging 35Mbps and no usage limit. This package is ideal for the average user who browses, streams, and shops online. It also comes with a raft of extra features, including BT SmartTalk, BT Parental Controls, the Home Hub 5 and 2GB’s worth of storage on the BT Cloud.

BT Superfast Fibre 1 package is unlimited

If you’re not after the fastest speed available, but don’t want to be worrying about data allowances, then BT Superfast Fibre 1 is for you. It comes with an average download speed of 50Mbps and there is no usage limit.

Superfast Fibre 2 (previously Infinity 2) is the best package for heavy downloaders

If you’re after the fastest advertised speed BT provides and an unlimited usage allowance, then BT Superfast Fibre 2 should be right up your street. It comes with a download speed averaging 67Mbps and, like all other BT broadband packages, is totally unlimited, so you should be able to do everything you want online, including downloading and streaming.

What will I need?

Check that you can receive a fibre optic line

To get BT’s fibre deals, you’ll need a fibre optic line, which is not available to everyone at the moment. You can find out whether you can receive a fibre optic connection in your area by putting your postcode into the box at the top of this page.

A 12-month contract is standard on Superfast Fibre packages

All the BT Superfast Fibre packages come with a 12-month contract, which is pretty standard for a deal like this, but still a long time to be with one provider. Make sure you’re happy with this level of commitment since if you break your contract early, you will be charged a cancellation fee.

How do I switch?

Make sure the package is right for you, then contact BT

Switching to BT is fairly easy. First, you need to check what is available in your area, which can be done with our broadband comparison table above. After you’ve chosen your package, you need to contact BT, which can be done directly by clicking next to the deal above. If you are already with another provider, BT will contact them on your behalf and cancel your old services (if you’re with Virgin Media, you’ll need to contact them yourself). BT will let you know when the switch date will be and whether an engineer needs to visit the property. If you have any questions about switching, BT is able to assist.

Six essential questions before you buy

  • Can I get BT Superfast Fibre in my area?
  • What data allowance do I need?
  • What speed to I need?
  • Do I want to add BT TV to my package?
  • Am I OK with switching to a new provider?
  • Can I commit to a 12-month contract?

Cable recommends

There are a couple of things to consider when picking a BT Superfast Fibre (previously BT Infinity) deal. All BT broadband deals are unlimited, so your main decision is to decide which speed you need. When you’ve decided on a deal, make sure you’ve read all the terms and conditions of the plan to make sure you’re comfortable with it, and you should be ready to buy.
